Take a picture of the area you wish to paint and print it out. Sketch your design onto the photo, giving you a rough guide to follow.
We painted our design free hand, but you could start by drawing your design onto the wall and stairs with a pencil. Start by painting the bigger sections first.
Repeat this process with Rust-Oleum Chalky Floor Paint and match with Rustoleum Chalky Wall Paint. For the stairs it is more impactful if the ovals, rectangles and swirls move off the steps onto the risers.
Keep adding shapes until you are happy with your design. We added a small burst of colour and shapes to the bottom five steps but you could paint your whole staircase too.
