How to paint your kitchen cupboards
Technical Data -
Preparation: Ensure surface is clean, dry and free from contamination. Use sugar soap equivalent to remove all traces of contamination, rinse surface afterwards with water. Treat any mould or mildew with a proprietary mould killer and remover. If wax or oil has previously been used on the item, clean the surface thoroughly with white spirit. If painting over a hard or glossy or previously painted surface abrade the surface before application. We recommend that bare wood should be sanded before painting.
Application: Stir thoroughly prior to use. The product may be applied by brush, roller or electric paint sprayer. If applying by brush, apply evenly following the grain of the wood. If rollering, use a short nap mohair roller. If spraying, paint should be diluted with water by 10-20% as required. Two coats are recommended.
Coverage: Up to 14m2/litre per coat. Coverage may vary depending upon method and rate of application and porosity of surface.
Drying Time: Touch dry in 1 hour. Hard dry in 4 hours. May be over coated after 4 hours. Full cure achieved after 7 days - take extra care during use in this time.
Clean Up: Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing with water. Do not empty into drains or water courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.
Limitations: Not for use directly onto metal. Use a suitable metal primer if necessary. Not a stain-blocking product. Prime any surfaces where stain bleed may be an issue, including knots with a suitable stain blocking primer. If unsure, test on an inconspicuous area before painting. Do not use abrasive cleaners to clean the product, use a damp cloth only. *Some food items may stain the product, remove any spills immediately to stop this or minimize the effect. Not suitable for use on any surface regularly immersed in water. Temperature at time of application and during drying should be greater than 10°C. Shelf Life: 2 years (unopened) from date of manufacture.
