You will need
- Rust-Oleum Sugar Soap
- Rust-Oleum Limewash Effect Wall Paint
- Rust-Oleum Limewash Effect Undercoat (optional)
- Roller and roller tray
- A wide soft brush
- Sponges (optional)
Step 1
Ensure that the surface of your wall is clean, dry and free from any dust or dirt that could interfere with the paint adhesion. Clean the surface with a mild detergent (we recommend Rust-Oleum Sugar Soap) and rinse thoroughly with clean, warm water before allowing to dry.
Step 2
Next, if you are painting a bare surface, or a previously painted wall is about to undergo a major colour transition, (e.g. a light colour like beige to a dark navy or vice versa) it is recommended to first prime your wall with Rust-Oleum Limewash Effect Undercoat and allow to dry. Check to see if you need to use a primer before painting here.
Step 3
Once your wall is prepped and ready to go, apply the first coat of interior Limewash Effect Wall Paint with a roller, as you would a standard wall paint. Allow 4 hours to dry before overcoating.
Step 4
Finally, create a brushed matte effect by applying the second coat using crisscrossing brush strokes. The overall, natural brushed finish will appear textured and cloud-like. Experiment with different brushes and sponges to reveal various colour tones.
And that’s it!
Rust-Oleum Limewash Effect Wall Paint is a premium, water-based and low-odour formula that’s perfect for creating a cosy, cocooning space inspired by Roman and Mediterranean interiors. Choose a rich terracotta to spice up your dining room or select a serene blue for a soothing yet luxurious bedroom.
