How to use Chalky Furniture Paint

Technical Data - Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint

Renovate and transform furniture with Rust-Oleum Furniture Paint. Simply paint your furniture and finish with a layer of Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax. The paint can be used directly onto wood (bare or painted), brick, stone, plaster or any suitably primed rigid surface. Create a distressed look by applying two coats in contrasting colours then sanding/ scouring when dry. Use the wax to protect the finished look.

Preparation: For best results, ensure surface is clean and free from wax or oil. If wax has been used clean the surface thoroughly with white spirit. We recommend that bare wood should be sanded before painting.

Application: Stir thoroughly prior to use. The product may be applied by brush or roller. If applying by bush, apply evenly following the grain of the wood. If rollering, use a nap mohair roller. To create a distressed look apply two coats in contrasting colours. Allow to dry then lightly abrade with moistened sand paper or a stainless steel scouring pad - abrade with the grain of the wood. Protect the effect with Rust-Oleum Furniture Finishing Wax.

Coverage: Up to 12 - 14m2 / litre. Coverage may vary depending upon method and rate of application and porosity of surface.

Drying Time: Touch dry in 1 hour. Handle after 4 hours. Apply a second coat after 4 hours, if necessary. Full hardness after 4 hours.

Clean Up: Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing with water. Do not empty into drains or water courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.

Limitations: Not for use directly onto metal. Not a stain-blocking product. Prime any surfaces where stain bleed may be an issue. If unsure, test on an inconspicuous area before painting. Not recommended for outdoor use.

Shelf Life: 2 years (unopened) from date of manufacture. (See base of can).
