Garden furniture paint colour trends 2024

Spring has finally sprung! Get ready for an outdoor refresh and makeover your exterior spaces with Rust-Oleum Garden Paint

Rust-Oleum Garden Paint is the ideal outdoor paint for wood, brick, stone and plaster, so you can easily upcycle your garden furniture such as chairs, benches, tables, planters and exterior décor- with no need for a primer on most surfaces.

Available in over 100 stunning shades and Matt, Satin and Gloss finishes, read on and find out the hottest new colour trends for painting your garden furniture in 2024.

Sun-soaked terracotta

A muted twist on the oranges of the 70s, select a warm terracotta like Salmon or a rich burnt red like Fire Brick to create Mediterranean vibes and add some sizzle to your garden- whatever the weather. Beautifully paired with understated and earthy neutrals, choose a soft taupe like Half Light to intensify the warmth and excitement of terracotta.

Apply Rust-Oleum Garden Paint directly onto wooden planters for a fiery pop of colour or alternatively, suitably prime and paint metal bistro furniture for an unexpected, contemporary look.

Terrific terrazzo

Terrazzo is an on-trend pattern for 2024 and perfect for adding a quirky burst of colour to your garden furniture. Use Rust-Oleum Garden Paint with Rust-Oleum Terrazzo Stencils and create the ultimate summer look.

With no primer needed on wood and stone surfaces, simply clean your furniture thoroughly and apply your desired base coat with a roller and allow to dry; we chose Anthracite for a cool, mid-grey backdrop. Once dried, attach the stencil firmly to your surface with masking tape and apply the Garden Paint, covering the stencil shape with a dabbing motion in your chosen shade. We went for soft neutral Portland Stone and playful pastel Pink Champagne for a delicate, carefree vibe.

And that’s it! Carefully remove the stencil, allow to dry and enjoy your newly customised furniture in time for the sunny weather.

Modern monochrome

Cool and contemporary, monochrome looks of black and white offer a sense of simple sophistication in exterior spaces. Painting garden furniture an understated shade of white, like Chalk White or Steamed Milk, will instantly create a summery look that’s fresh, airy and light.

Offset delicate whites by painting larger structures, like a shed or summerhouse, in dramatic Black Sand or After Dinner for an eye-catching contrast and the perfect black backdrop.

Short on time?

Why not use Rust-Oleum Garden Paint with an electric sprayer? Quicker than a brush or roller, paint sprayers are perfect for reaching large or difficult areas and provide flawless coverage that preserves the original surface texture. Check out our article on 'How to spray your fence' here.

Whether you go for sleek monochrome, jazzy patterns or Mediterranean warmth, Rust-Oleum Garden Paint is perfect for a stylish spring makeover.

Specifically designed for use on exterior décor, the water-resistant Garden Paint is ultra-durable and will last for up to 6 years- so your outdoor spaces stay stunning, come rain or shine.
